Sensations / Sensaties

Side effects are omnipresent. I don’t say too much about it. “Don’t complain but carry” is a saying. Nevertheless, side effects can stimulate your creativity and flexibility and there are also side effects that are not necessarily troublesome.

One side effect of the dexamethasone is also called ‘sensations’ by oncology nurses. During chemo, dexamethasone is injected intravenously, a medicine against nausea and inflammation. The dexa gives you tingling in your vagina that lasts for half a minute. A very special experience that could be quite pleasant in a different setting 😁. Recently, there was a 70-year-old couple whose woman got chemo and therefore also dexa. After a while she suddenly made the groaning sound: “oehhh ……. oehhhh”. Her husband looked at her with wide eyes. Then he turned to the nursing staff: “Do you have anything for at home?” For those who now think that in the morning when I take dexa I also ‘enjoy’ sensations, unfortunately …. it does not work with pills, only with the intravenous version.

Bijwerkingen zijn alom aanwezig. Ik zeg er niet al te veel over. “Niet klagen maar dragen” zegt men wel eens. Toch kunnen bijwerkingen je creativiteit en flexibiliteit stimuleren en zijn er ook bijwerkingen die niet per se lastig zijn.

Een aparte bijwerking van de dexamethason wordt door de oncologieverpleging ook wel ‘sensations’ genoemd. Tijdens de chemo wordt dexamethason intraveneus ingespoten, een middel tegen de misselijkheid en ontstekingen. Van de dexa krijg je tintelingen bij je vagina die een half minuutje aanhouden. Een hele aparte ervaring die best prettig zou kunnen zijn in een andere setting 😁.
Laatst was er een echtpaar van 70 waarvan de vrouw chemo kreeg en dus ook dexa. Na een tijdje maakte ze plots het kreungeluid:” oehhh…….oehhhh”. Haar man keek haar met grote ogen aan. Vervolgens richtte hij zich tot de verpleging:”Heeft u ook wat voor thuis?”

Voor diegenen die nu denken dat ik in de ochtend als ik dexa slik ook zo ‘geniet’ van sensations, helaas….het werkt niet bij pillen, alleen bij de intraveneuze versie.
