Cheryl Roumen

Cheryl Roumen is senior researcher and lecturer at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Her research focus lies on patient-centered digital innovation. In her research she combines innovations in the field of improving self-reliance, lifestyle and positive health with co-creation techniques and Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. She is member of the Breast Cancer Foundation Netherlands, coordinator of Universities of the Netherlands Digital Society Health & Well-being. She is vice-coordinator of the Master Health and Digital Transformation. She graduated from the University of Amsterdam in Medical Biology and performed an internship at the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute in Berkeley, California, USA. She completed a PhD in lifestyle intervention for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and worked in industry as intelligence specialist, program and communication manager.

Cheryl has recieved research grants from the Dutch Cancer Society, The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development and Astra Zeneca and has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Cheryl has a passion for Art, Poems, Traveling, Running and Riding her Bike.
