Today I presented the first copy of my poetry collection “Traces” to the mayor of Voerendaal and I gave a lecture about poetry at the language club of the municipality of Voerendaal. I showed that poems occur in our everyday lives: in commercials, in songs, on the street and I explained how poems can express emotions. A participant in the lecture said this about it:
“Thank you, Cheryl, for your inspiring presentation this morning, but also the cheerfulness with which you talked to us about the beautiful and difficult things in life. Nice to see that you can be so open. Thank you also for your collection of poems, you touched me.”

Vandaag overhandigde ik het eerste exemplaar van mijn gedichtenbundel “Traces” aan de burgemeester van Voerendaal en hield ik een lezing over poëzie bij de taalclub van de gemeente Voerendaal. Ik liet zien dat gedichten voorkomen in ons alledaagse leven: in commercials, in liedjes, op straat en ik vertelde hoe gedichten uiting kunnen geven aan emoties. Een deelnemer aan de lezing vertelde dit erover:
“Dank je wel Cheryl, voor je inspirerende presentatie vanmorgen maar ook de vrolijkheid waarmee je met ons praatte over de mooie en moeilijke dingen van het leven. Mooi om te zien dat je zo open kunt zijn. Zeker ook bedankt voor je gedichtenbundel, je hebt me geraakt.”
